About Path

Tucked into the Oku-Shibu district of Tomigaya, Path is the kind of neighborhood French bistro that regulars guard like a secret—until the morning queue gives it away. Chefs Taichi Hara and Yuichi Goto, both alumni of Cuisine Michel Troisgros, bring serious pedigree to an all-day format that runs from morning pastries to late dinner service. The signature Dutch pancake with prosciutto and burrata has earned cult status, but the kitchen's technical foundation—Goto spent time as the first Asian chief pâtissier at Troisgros's flagship in France—runs deep across every service. Word has spread well beyond Tokyo, landing Path at #49 on OAD's rankings and drawing an international crowd willing to wait.

Good to know

Arrive before 8am opening on weekends to snag first-round seating—the digital queue system (scan the QR at the door) lets you wait remotely, but pancakes bake in batches of six, so later numbers mean longer waits even after you're seated.

The chef

Taichi Hara and Yuichi Goto

Taichi Hara and Yuichi Goto both cut their teeth at Cuisine Michel Troisgros in Shinjuku, where they absorbed the technique and ingredient-forward philosophy of the legendary French house. Hara went on to open Bistro Rojiura in Shibuya before partnering with Goto to launch Path in 2015, bringing their shared Troisgros foundation to an accessible all-day format. Goto's credentials run particularly deep—he earned the distinction of becoming the first Asian chief pâtissier at the Troisgros flagship in France, a technical mastery evident in everything from morning viennoiserie to the now-famous Dutch pancake. Their approach balances classical French rigor with the seasonality and precision expected in Tokyo's competitive dining scene.
