About Là-Haut

Perched on the fourth floor of a contemporary building in Annecy's quieter artisan quarter, Là-Haut offers a rare escape from the lakeside bustle—a Bib Gourmand destination where chef Jean-Baptiste Marin delivers refined, ingredient-driven French gastronomy with mountain and rooftop views. The kitchen's focus on intense sauces, seasonal Savoyard terroir, and precise technique has earned it a devoted following among locals and travelers seeking substance over scene. With its tucked-away location and spacious, unrushed dining room, this is gastronomic dining for those who value craft, intimacy, and genuine hospitality.

Good to know

The restaurant is genuinely difficult to find in the dark—arrive before sunset if it's your first visit, or save the address and allow extra time to navigate the building entrance via the artisan park.

The chef

Jean-Baptiste Marin

Jean-Baptiste Marin honed his craft in two of the region's most respected kitchens: Laurent Petit's Maison Brunet (the three-Michelin-starred Clos des Sens in Annecy-le-Vieux) and La Ciboulette under Georges Paccard, both bastions of disciplined French technique and terroir-focused cooking. That dual apprenticeship shows in Marin's approach—precise, seasonal, and rooted in intense, layered saucing that amplifies rather than masks ingredient quality. Since opening Là-Haut, he's built a reputation for generous, no-nonsense gastronomy that respects classical foundations while embracing the freedom of a young, independent kitchen.
