Cap d'Artrutx, Spain
An expert assessment built on data, context and gastronomic judgement.
Perched right beside the working Artrutx Lighthouse, this Mediterranean sea club has become one of Menorca's most magnetic sunset addresses since opening in 2022. Cocktails, live DJ sets, and a menu built around Mediterranean seafood and coastal classics share the stage with a horizon view that needs no embellishment. It's a place for long, golden-hour dinners, celebratory nights, and travelers who want their meal to double as a spectacle. Expect a lively, style-forward room where the setting does a lot of the talking — and where booking ahead for a terrace table is essential.
Book a terrace table well ahead of sunset — arriving even 30–45 minutes early secures the best sightlines before the crowd builds.
Chef Lucas García Montaner built his foundation at the EHL in Lausanne and the Culinary Institute of America, pairing European hospitality training with rigorous American culinary technique. He sharpened his craft through internships in some of Spain's most respected kitchens, including Quique Dacosta, Ca Sento, and La Nicolasa, absorbing a modern, technique-driven approach to Mediterranean and coastal cuisine. That background shows in Artrutx Sea Club's menu, which balances produce-forward simplicity with more ambitious, refined touches. His philosophy centers on letting quality seafood and local ingredients lead, dressed in confident but unfussy technique.
Four dimensions, each assessed independently against the same criteria everywhere we rate.
The kitchen leans into bold coastal flavors — red prawn rice, tuna tartare, and aguachile-style ceviches show a kitchen comfortable with raw and lightly cooked seafood. The cachopo, honored as one of the best in the Balearics, remains a hearty, indulgent standout for those craving something more substantial. Consistency can waver on busy nights, with some plates landing more polished than others, but at their best the kitchen delivers clean, produce-driven Mediterranean cooking.
This is theater as much as dinner — DJ sets, a nightly sunset ritual with waving napkins and music, and a crowd dressed to be seen. Energy builds through the evening as the light shifts, making early tables calmer and later ones more festive. Balinese daybeds and a chill-out zone add a lounge-club layer for those staying past dessert.
Staff are frequently singled out as warm, attentive, and accommodating, with several team members earning repeat mentions for going out of their way for guests. That said, pacing can slip under full-house pressure, with slower turns between courses and occasional table mix-ups. When the room isn't at capacity, service feels genuinely personal rather than rehearsed.
Few dining rooms in Menorca can claim a working lighthouse as a backdrop, and Artrutx Sea Club uses it beautifully, with both indoor and open-air seating framing uninterrupted sea views. The design leans breezy and contemporary — whites, natural textures, and low lounge seating that suits both a sunset drink and a full dinner. Shade is limited in parts of the terrace, so afternoon visits can run hot before the evening cools things down.
These four dimensions are a handful of the attributes we review. The Insider Rating also draws on research the compass does not display — among them the wine programme, the size and quality of the cellar, the location, and how long the house has operated. It is not an average of the scores above.
